Wedding Planner Bacalar
Aralé is an event design house working as Wedding Planner in Bacalar. End-to-end wedding planning: we define the concept, select and negotiate venues and vendors, build the real budget, and direct production on the day. We take a limited number of weddings per season because the difference shows in attention, not volume.

Where to celebrate in Bacalar
The Lagoon of Seven Colours is not a brochure name: white sediment on the bottom and varying depths produce bands of blue running from near-transparent to indigo, shifting with the hour. Bacalar is freshwater — no sargassum, no surf — with private wooden docks that serve as natural altars. It is the destination for couples who already know the Caribbean and want something else.
The venue types we work with in Bacalar:
- Boutique hotels on the lagoon, 10–25 rooms, with a private dock for ceremonies
- Waterfront houses and villas, buyable-out for weekend weddings with lodging included
- Wooden docks over the water as a ceremony site at sunrise or sunset
- Venues in town near the San Felipe Fort for rehearsal dinners
- Non-motorised boats — sailboats and electric launches — for guest excursions
Getting there: logistics in Bacalar
It is 4 hours by road from Cancun and 40 minutes from Chetumal airport (CTM), which has domestic flights. The Maya Train has a Bacalar station, shortening the trip from the north of the state. Local vendor supply is limited: much of the equipment, production and specialised catering travels from Tulum or Cancun, which shows in the budget and requires an extra day for setup.
When to plan it: seasons and climate in Bacalar
November to April is dry and the lagoon reaches its greatest clarity. June to October brings heavier rain than the coast and can cloud the water for several days, directly affecting the colour that motivated the destination choice. It is a design consideration, not just a weather one.
Permits and requirements in Bacalar
The lagoon is a fragile ecosystem with protected stromatolites — living formations thousands of years old — and there are stretches where stepping on the bottom or anchoring is prohibited. Sunscreen must be biodegradable without exception, and soaps or chemicals are not permitted at the shoreline. Bacalar municipality, with its own Civil Registry.
How we work
- A first call with no commitment: date, approximate guest count, budget range and what you have in mind. We reply with a realistic assessment, including whether we are the right fit.
- Concept and scope proposal, with a master budget broken down by line so you can see where every peso goes before committing.
- Venue and vendor selection: curated options with a reasoned recommendation, site visits and clause-by-clause contract review.
- Design development with plans, palette, materials and physical samples for your approval.
- Technical production: schedule, power, structure, permits and contingency plan, closed weeks before the event.
- On-site execution with our own team, and strike. You handle nothing on the day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should we start?
For a destination wedding with international guests, 12 to 18 months. The best venues and key vendors commit a year out in high season. On shorter timelines we work to a compressed schedule and narrow the venue list to what genuinely has availability.
How are your fees structured?
We work on a flat fee defined by project scope, not a percentage of spend. That removes the conflict of interest: we do not earn more if the budget grows. Vendor commissions, where they exist, are disclosed transparently.
Can we hire day-of coordination only?
Yes, provided design and contracting are already closed and we can review them at least six weeks out. Coming in the same month to coordinate decisions we did not make is a risk we prefer not to take.
